Hurray for battle.net? :D

Yes thats worth both waiting and paying for - oh no wait, we already have teamspeak and have had for past 5 yrs, so u can talk to Jim whilst playing Solitaire if that's what u really want!

Fell for the hype and got it myself - but all the Settlers chunter made me go d/load Settlers II to see if was all that better than Settlers VI. So miss the music from Settlers I, the original - anyone know how to get hold of it??

http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/288/S ... C+The.html You'll also need DOSBox. Did you get the 10th Anniversary of Settlers II? (the one that's remade in 3D and whatnot).

Enough derailing; this thread is for the discussion of the second best game ever (Starcraft 2).

On topic:

Anyone else have StarCraft II try to melt their hardware? Blizzard admits that it's a known issue and has a fix for you.

Apparently, the game's menu screens aren't framerate-limited. This means that when there's nothing else going on, your graphics hardware renders the bejeezus out of those screens, causing nasty overheating problems. The fix is easy, requiring players to add the following lines to your "Documents\StarCraft II Beta\variables.txt" "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt" file (nice catch, commenter LegolElf):

frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60

When I said "old" to this earlier, I mean this was known within less than a month of the beta starting all those months ago. The fact that it still hasn't been patched is hilarious.

Off topic : there might have been a Settlers II 10th Anniversary edition on Pirate bay, released only couple of yrs ago, that doesn't need Dosbox or anything, in 3d and runs brill. Not saying there was/is, mind - just that there might have been.

The only one that redeemed the series was, oddly enough, the 10th Anniversary of Settlers 2
